Art Therapy Workshop

Following the Art Therapy Lecture, Ed Regensburg will be conducting a participatory and educational workshop. During the FREE workshop participants will have the chance to learn about the therapist's theoretical practices and techniques, while enjoying themselves doing it! The Artist-Therapist will be demonstrating his personal art therapy techniques.

The New Paltz Art Therapy Club will be hosting alumnus, Ed Regensburg, who will be conducting an experiential art therapy lecture. In the lecture Mr. Regensburg will give an autobiographical account of his beginnings in the field of art therapy at SUNY New Paltz. The art therapist will discuss the history of the professional field, as well as its position in today's world. Mr. Regensburg will speak in depth about his own therapeutic process, and will demonstrate techniques in an experiential learning experience.

The New Paltz Art Therapy Club will be a hosting a Not-for-profit fundraiser. There are NO donations needed at this fundraiser - Just simple and fun steps to help raise money to combat the effects of lead poisoning and soil contamination. Please check out the program at:

You will have the opportunity to decorate the front and back of a 100 dollar bill template. The decorated templates will be sent into a national collection agency, where they will be matched, and the money will be used in the fight against lead poisoning.

There will be FREE PIZZA AND SODA!

Art Therapy Lecture and Workshop at SUNY New Paltz!

I began organizing an art therapy Lecture and Workshop to take place at the SUNY New Paltz campus last semester. I was working entirely one my own accord, and wound up coordinating with the Psychology Department's Chair Glenn Geher. He is a super great guy who pointed me in all the right directions!

The biggest feat was funding the event. I applied for a Special Funds request to pay for a Honorarium payment, one nights stay, travel and food expenses - it was quite a bit of money. I just got word this week that the event was approved for funding! I am ecstatic!

There is a quite a bit more planning to be done in order to get everything managed and organized. It will be a lot of work, but well worth it! The event is tentatively scheduled for mid April!

New Paltz Art Therapy Association

The New Paltz Art Therapy Association is officially up and running! This is a student organization I founded and am currently the president of! Working with the many excited members of the club, I hope to bring more awareness of the field to the campus and community alike. We will achieve this by inviting accredited art therapists to lecture on campus about their practice and personal experiences with art therapy. We will also spread the energy of healing art by volunteering in the local community at organizations that support this growingly accepted notion. Our community involvement will help to bring about more substantial and permanent opportunities such as internships and jobs for club members.

We will be meeting every Monday at 6:00 pm in the Smiley Art Building!!!
